Pre and Post Operative Rehabilitation

The team at Mint Wellbeing are experts at treating people before and after they have orthopaedic surgery. We totally understand that going into surgery, whether elective or not, is a daunting experience. The majority of the team have prior experience of working in busy NHS hospitals seeing a large and varied case of Orthopaedic surgery patients. Gaining experience from top London hospitals such as the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore), Charing Cross Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, St George’s, Great Ormond Street and The Whittington makes our team uniquely placed to truly understand your rehabilitation needs from start to finish.

We work closely with our Orthopaedic Surgical colleagues to ensure joined up and informed care. Shared decision making and collaboration both pre operatively and post operatively form the backbone of our Orthopaedic Physiotherapy service.

Example cases we work with:

  • Shoulder surgery e.g. anterior stabilisation, latarjet procedure, rotator cuff repair
  • Back surgery e.g. laminectomy, spinal fusion, discectomy
  • Hip surgery e.g. hip arthroscopy, total hip replacement, femoral osteotomy
  • Knee surgery e.g. ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, total knee replacement
  • Ankle surgery e.g. ankle arthroscopy, ankle stabilisation/ligament reconstruction, syndesmosis repair
  • Foot surgery e.g. bunions, achilles tendon repair, tendon transfers

Poly Trauma

We additionally specialise in rehabilitation for patients following polytrauma. Physiotherapy for this addresses multiple injuries sustained during traumatic events such as road traffic accidents or severe falls.

You may have experienced a combination of fractures, soft tissue injuries, and neurological damage. Rehabilitation following this necessitates a comprehensive and individualised therapy approach.

Every case is unique but through employing techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and functional training we work with you to achieve your goals such as:

  • Alleviating pain
  • Enhance physical capabilities
  • Promote independence in daily activities.

This rehabilitation often involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals, ensuring a holistic treatment plan tailored to meet the diverse needs of a polytrauma patient.

I have recently completed a series of physio sessions at Mint Wellbeing after a ACJ shoulder injury from skiing. Not only has my recovery been faster than expected, but I’ve received excellent care. All the staff are very friendly and I looked forward to my weekly sessions.
